The weekend drop has struck everywhere
All countries and states are seeing a drop in numbers. I expect them to go up again at the latest when Tuesday numbers have come in and any analysis is a moot point until then. But one thing is apparent: even with the weekend drop, most trendlines are still pointing up.
Back in May (on the 25th), a paper coming out of the Imperial College in London predicted, #by the beginning of July, a surge in US cases to prior peak levels or even higher if people move around not even half as much as before the pandemic.
This has come true for the entire US as well as the US minus NY, CA and WA, and for California and Washington (and other states I do not follow here). Only New York State (and probably states north of it) have escaped.
From a scientific perspective it is great to see the worst case scenario actually come true. Of course, this paper was meant as a warning to the populist politicians and the US President to not move forward with their reopening. And by not listening, these politicians deliberately condemned some people to death, while it was their duty to protect them.
I am reminded of this doctor, who had sworn an oath to help and to cure humans. Instead he used them as guinea pigs for his sadistic experiments while working in a concentration camp. We all know his name.
